The Accessibility & Disability / 2SLGBTQ+ / Black / South Asian Student Support Ambassador will cultivate a welcoming, inclusive campus environment for students who identify with a disability / 2SLGBTQ+ students / Black students / South Asian students through regular support group sessions and programming that promote community building, education, advocacy, and awareness of relevant issues and identities.
Additionally, the Accessibility & Disability / 2SLGBTQ+ / Black / South Asian Student Support Ambassador will act as a lead mentor for students from equity-deserving identity groups. Lead Mentors are senior students, responsible for overseeing a team of identity-matched Peer Mentors as they assist incoming students with the challenges associated with transitioning into college. They are expected to act as guides and offer support to their Peer Mentors. Lead Mentors will maintain regular communication with student participants, monitor reports and follow-up as requested. They will be responsible for creating an inspiring team environment while motivating and monitoring mentor performance.
This position will foster connections between student support group participants, peer mentors, mentees and the Student Supports team, through group sessions and interactive programming, with a focus on supporting Seneca’s diverse body of students. Student Support Ambassadors will be expected to handle difficult and unexpected problems with ease and confidence, with the support of Student Navigators.
