Are you ready to learn a new language this summer? The Summer Abroad Program at Kanagawa University offers you the chance to explore Japanese culture and contemporary Japan. You'll take classes focused on Japan, go on field trips, and have the opportunity to experience traditional practices like the tea ceremony and calligraphy. Throughout the program, you'll also connect with Kanagawa University students for cultural exchange and the chance to build lasting friendships!

      Travel Dates: Dates will be confirmed with the program details

      Accommodations: Not included in the program fee, arranged by students. Kanagawa University suggested that students review Homestay guide here.

      Flights: Students are responsible for the roundtrip airfares to and from Japan.

  • Application Deadline: March 16, 2025
  • Acceptance Date: TBD
  • Pre-Departure Orientation: Approx. 2 months pre-trip
  • Return Debrief: Approx. 1 month post-trip

+Eligibility Requirements

  • Full-time students in any diploma, advanced diploma or degree program that require a GenEd or LSO credit
  • Have a minimum program GPA of 2.5 and be in good academic standing
  • Open to domestic and international students
  • Students must be on summer break in summer 2025

+Fees and Funding

Program Fee: Program fee is payable to the host institution. Please visit host institution's website to learn more. Students are responsible for the program fee, applicable visa fees, travel, and living expenses. Students do not pay any fee to Seneca.

Funding: Seneca provides up to $2,000 CAD in funding to accepted students to offset the program fee. No additional funding application is required.

Traveling students must adhere to all jurisdictional guidelines and/or regulations of their host country and host institution. All accepted students are responsible for ensuring they meet the entry and exit requirements of their destination country.

International Students are required to meet with an immigration specialist to ensure their program of study and/or study permit will not be negatively impacted by traveling abroad.
