Field placement is central to the learning experience. You will have the opportunity to integrate classroom learning into practice with groups of children and families within the community. You will have four different field placement experiences throughout the program.
This program also includes a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) component, starting in semester 6. Students must complete 14 weeks and 420 hours.
Field placement gives students the opportunity to practice what they have learned in the ECE program. Students will plan, implement, and evaluate play-based, inclusive, emergent curriculum experiences for preschool children.
Attendance in a field placement preparation seminar in week 1 is a requirement.
Students will be placed in sites where they will be able to integrate learning from all their classes. They will have the opportunity to practice skills required for the care and teaching of children birth to 3 years.
Week 3 of the semester
Starting in Fall 2025 - Week 2 of the semester
Students will be integrating practical skills and knowledge in community settings. This experience focuses on developing a solid foundation for professional practice with children, families, communities, and colleagues in community settings.
