Funding & Budget

GLE is committed to supporting students who are interested in our global learning opportunities. We understand that expenses associated with travel and program costs can be a challenge. Therefore, we offer funding to eligible students to help them fund their global learning experience.

When you apply for a global learning opportunity, you will be considered for ONE of two funding options:

  • The International Experience Grant (Seneca bursary)

  OR

  • The Global Skills Opportunity (funded by the Government of Canada's Outbound Student Mobility Pilot Program).

It is essential to note that to receive funding, you must make sure that your SIN/ITN is correct on the Student Home portal under "Profile".

Tips And Tools

Embarking on a global learning experience can be an exciting and enriching opportunity, but it's important to be prepared. Before you set off, take the time to research your destination thoroughly. This includes learning about the local customs, laws, and language, as well as any potential safety concerns.

In addition to researching your destination, it's essential to prepare a budget plan. This will help you to manage your finances effectively and ensure that you have enough money to cover all your expenses. Make sure to include costs such as transportation, accommodation, food, and activities, as well as any visa or insurance fees.

It's also a good idea to explore contingency options in case of emergency. This could include having a backup plan in case your original travel arrangements fall through, or knowing where to go and who to contact if you need medical assistance.

By taking the time to plan and prepare for your global learning experience, you can ensure that your trip is not only enjoyable but also safe and successful.

Some other tips:

  • Apply for Awards, Scholarships, and Bursaries through Seneca.
  • Create a budget; understand what is paid now and what is paid later.
  • Create a digital piggy bank to save a little each week.
  • Talk to friends and family about your goals during the global learning opportunity, they may support you financially to meet them.
